In our previous two sessions, on The Origin of the Family, Private Property and the State and on Spinoza's Ethics, we discussed, from a broad historical perspective, the forms the family has taken in different eras, and, from the individual's perspective, how human feeling and reason ought to be used and how good and evil are defined. The widely watched reality show See You Again (Season 2) has just ended. It sparked a good deal of discussion and is a topic worth talking about. This session takes Erich Fromm's The Art of Loving as its guide to explore the problems and mismatches in love and marriage in modern society, and builds on the discussions of earlier sessions to think about them more deeply.
