This session looks at society in the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms period through the eyes of Huangfu Hui, a "famous nobody". Some questions to get us thinking: How did the chaos at the end of the Tang grow ever worse? Which states made up the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms? What well-known stories are there from the period? Questions for this session: Who was Huangfu Hui? How did the Yedu mutiny and the Xingjiao Gate incident come about? Did the Later Tang really fall because of actors? What was the relationship between Li Cunxu, Li Siyuan and the Weibo army? What strange adventures did Huangfu Hui have on his way to the Southern Tang?
